Atelier Design Group evolves into Percept Design

Posted Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Thirteen may or may not be a lucky number for Percept Design. It was that many years ago that the company began operation as Atelier Design Group. In the early years, most of the studio's work was done locally in Columbus, Georgia. Atelier, a French word meaning studio, was intended to help differentiate the company from other local advertising agencies and freelance designers. Over the years, the name was somewhat of a double-edged sword, on one hand being unique in the market and easy to remember and on the other being difficult to pronounce for those not familiar with the French language.

In recent years, with the advent of an efficient broadband Internet, more of Percept Design's clients began to come from outside the local Columbus market. The Atelier name became cumbersome and seemed dated. A new, more timeless name was needed to position the company positively to a regional and national market. After several months of brainstorming, Percept Design was selected because it most accurately describes the way the company works — listening carefully to clients, evaluating their needs and producing creative and effective work that meets, and hopefully exceeds, their needs.
